Avatar, Book One is Deep Space Nine novel written by S.D. Perry in May 2001. It is the first book in the Avatar duology and the first book in the Deep Space Nine Relaunch. The book begins several months after the final DS9 television episode, What You Leave Behind, and establishes the series new status quo. It introduces several new characters who were brought in the replace characters who left at the end of the television series.
